Bobby Brown proposes to girlfriend onstage at New Jack concert!

Bobby Brown has had his ups and downs with his personal life and career, but it seems to be going well for the “My Prerogative” singer. Let’s start with his personal life. It is common knowledge that he was married to superstar Whitney Houston from 1992 until they divorced in 2007. Brown and Houston’s marriage was rocked with turmoil but both seem to be happy with their lives now. This marriage produced one daughter named Bobbi Christina. After the divorce was final, he began to date Alicia Etheridge. The New Jack Swing star and his fiancé welcomed a baby boy in 2009 named Cassis. Brown has five children total. Recently, at a concert that featuring some of New Jack Swings top artist including Ralph Tresvant, Johnny Gill and Tone Toni Tony, Brown proposed onstage to Etheridge. To view the proposal, click the link provided here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecyJeeUN1LY. The concert took place in Jacksonville, Florida and came as a huge surprise for Etheridge as you can see by the look on here face. Brown has not announced any plans for when and where the wedding will take place, but do not worry I will keep you posted.

Now let’s move on to Bobby Brown’s career and I know that all New Jack Swing fans have been wondering what Brown has been up to lately, but let’s start from the beginning. Brown started out as one fifth of R&B super group New Edition. After three albums with the group, Brown was let go by the other members when they voted him out. Brown was voted out because the others members thought that he was hurting the group’s squeaky-clean image with his onstage antics. Brown’s pelvis thrust and making his part in a song longer during performances seem to be too much for the group. This was a valley in Brown’s career, but things seem to peak when he signed a solo deal with the same label as New Edition. Brown released his debut album “King of Stage” in 1986. This title in my opinion was a stab at his former group since he was kicked out mainly for his onstage antics. The album did well selling one million units, but it was his second release that made him the king of New Jack Swing. That album was “Don’t Be Cruel” and included his biggest hit to date “My Prerogative.” This song was a cross over number hit in 1988. To watch the video of Brown’s biggest hit “My Prerogative” click on the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cDLZqe735k. Brown released two more albums after this but could never reach the success that “Don’t Be Cruel” provided for him. In addition, he reunited with New Edition in 1996 and released the classic album “Home Again.” Brown has not released any new material since the 1990’s because of legal problems with the law and spending time with his children. Things picked back up for the New Jack Swing star in 2009 when he and two of New Edition’s members Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill created a side group titled “Heads of State.” The name of the group is derived from the three singers sharing lead parts in New Edition. Heads of State embarked on a national tour in 2010. During this tour is when Brown proposed to his girlfriend Alicia Etheridge. Things seem to come full circle for Bobby Brown and I hope for nothing but the best for the New Jack Swing star.
